England and Pakistan gearing up for international series

The Pakistan blind cricket team have arrived in England ready for the start of a four match international series against the England blind cricket team to take place in Worcestershire over May bank holiday weekend.

England will be looking to build on the success of winning their last four international series beating the West Indies twice as well as winning in Sri Lanka and claiming the blind cricket ashes in 2004 by beating the Australians.

When the series starts at the Royal Grammar school in Worcester on Saturday England will be looking to regain the Umer Rashid memorial trophy which Pakistan claimed with a 3-1 series win over England in summer 2002.

The four match series is an important test for England in the build up to this winter's world cup in Islamabad, Pakistan as it will be the sideís last competitive cricket before the tournament.

The matches will also be a gauge of England's recent improvement in form and should give the squad indications of what they'll need to do to be good enough to win this yearís Blind Cricket World Cup.

England team manager Peter Sugg said:

"We'll have the privilege of pitting our wits against the world champions over a 4 match series which will hopefully prepare the squad for the ultimate challenge of the world cup. We'll be looking for a strong performance from Englandís star players as well as looking for the junior players in the squad to improve their skills and stake a claim for a starting place at the World Cup."

The series runs from this Saturday the 27th of May, continuing in Reddich on Sunday and finishing with two games at Worcestershire's county ground New Road on May 30th and 31st.
