Cup Final News

Hampshire and Essex join blind cricket

The draw for the 2009 BBS Primary Club national knockout cup has thrown up an amazing opportunity for some of the smaller teams to have a chance to reach the final at Lords.

All four of the 2008 semi finalists have been drawn in the same half of the draw as South Wales will host Metro and Warwickshire could host Sussex in the quarter finals. The Wales v Metro game is a repeat of the 2005, 2006 and 2007 final where as Sussex will be up against Warwickshire if they can first win a home tie in the first round against Northern Galloways. The winners of these quarters will then face each other in the first semi final.

In the other half of the draw new boys Hampshire VICC will travel to face the newly renamed Northants Steelbacks VICC in the first round. The winner of that game will host Birmingham SCVI in the quarter finals. If that means Northants host Birmingham that would see the 2006 BBS league winners hosting the 2007 BBS league winners. The last quarter final see’s Essex Tigers at home to Eastern Vipers in a game that see’s two former finalists clashing in an attempt to reach a first final for several years.

The final will take place at Lords cricket ground on a yet to be confirmed date in August.
